Choosing the right provider for your convalescent, rehabilitative or chronic care is not only difficult, but can also be stressful and anxiety-provoking. We understand. We've been working with patients and families for more than 60 years and we know that this can be a life-changing decision. Will you receive the right care so you are able to recover completely from a surgery, injury or illness? Will you be in an environment that is clean and modern and the staff is respectful, professional and friendly? Will your loved one receive the dignified and attentive care they need and deserve as they transition from their homes to a skilled care facility? If your choice is The Carolton, the answers to these questions are all yes.
Unique and compassionate, The Carolton Chronic and Convalescent Hospital isn’t part of a corporate chain. We are a family owned and operated provider founded in 1955 by Carmen A. Tortora, Sr. Carmen was a pioneer and dedicated his career to rehabilitation and geriatric care and set standards within the industry. He founded the Connecticut Association of Health Care Facilities and served on the National Geriatric Society and the American Health Care Association. He was also a fellow in the American College of Nursing Home Administrators.
Today, the President, Kathy Abrahamsen, and Administrator, Thomas Tortora continue to operate The Carolton with the same dedication to serving our patients and their families with dignity, respect, and compassion. We are proud of our exceptionally high staff-to-patient ratio for our inpatient care and our one-on-one attention to our outpatient rehabilitation patients.
We're proud of The Carolton's reputation and commitment to excellence. We cordially extend an invitation to you to come visit us and see for yourself what our outstanding health facility has to offer. We know that, when you do, your choice for chronic, rehabilitative or convalescent care will become clear.
