Unparalleled Service, Unmatched CommitmentA unique and compassionate convalescent hospital, The Carolton Chronic and Convalescent Hospital was founded in 1955 by Carmen A. Tortora, Sr., and first opened its doors with just 38 beds. Carmen dedicated his career to rehabilitation and geriatric care and set standards within the industry. He founded the Connecticut Association of Health Care Facilities and served on the National Geriatric Society and the American Health Care Association. He was also a fellow in the American College of Nursing Home Administrators.
Today, The Carolton continues to be family-owned and operated, with three of Carmen's 14 children overseeing all aspects of operations. Our mission hasn't changed: We are committed to serving Fairfield and the surrounding communities with the best possible convalescent care and a belief that every resident is an individual to be treated with dignity, respect and compassion. We are dedicated to making The Carolton the finest convalescent facility in the area. The Carolton has 229 beds, including 109 private rooms and suites, and our three-year, $5 million renovation plan is currently underway to expand our facility and maintain our industry leadership. Since our father's passing in June 2004, the Tortora family has carried on his vision and dedication. His compassion is reflected in The Carolton's commitment to personal service in a quiet, home-like setting designed for our patient's complete comfort and safety, with an exceptionally high staff-to-patient ration. We carefully screen and select our staff for the necessary educational and performance qualifications to meet our standards for care and service and we are proud to say many of them have dedicated their careers to the care of our patients. We're proud of The Carolton's reputation and commitment to excellence. We cordially extend an invitation to you to come visit us and see for yourself what our outstanding health facility has to offer. Carmen A. Tortora, Jr., President & CEO |
